For the first time ever, Brisbane will be host to the most exciting collection of Hip-Hop dance workshops to grace our streets - at Street Dance Summit 2010, right here at Fresh Elements!

SDS 2010's range of workshops will cover Hip-Hop Groove, House Dance, Commercial Hip-Hop, Poppin', Hip-Hop History and a Jam Session. These workshops are designed to make sure that you finish the day with more than just another set of choreography; you'll finish the day with real, usable Hip-Hop dance knowledge from some of the greatest Hip-Hop dancers the world has ever seen! Leading SDS 2010 are two legends of Hip-Hop dance - Popin' Pete and Sho-tyme.


Popin' Pete

 

Popin' Pete's older brother "Boogaloo" Sam Solomon created the Popping & Boogaloo styles of dance around the years of 1975-1976. Popin' Pete is a second generation member of the legendary Electric Boogaloos, joining the team in 1978. He has gone on to innovate styles/moves like Crazy Legs, ET, Spider Man, and Sleepy Style.

Popin' Pete has a dance resume longer than the Great Wall of China. Not only has he choreographed for artists such as Michael Jackson and the Black Eyed Peas, he has been one of the major influences in the styles of most of today's generation of Hip-Hop choreographers. His television career spans from the fabled Soul Train through to the Grammy Awards, and he had an unforgettable role in one of the most influential Hip-Hop dance movies in history - the 1984 movie Breakin'.

Sho-Tyme

 

Hailing from Far Rockaway Queens, New York the 5 foot 6 Hip Hop Street Dancer who has no boundaries with his creativity in dance has continually shown his passion for dance and created an entertaining vision for the world to see unlike no other.

His Versatility as a choreographer along with his creativity and extensive knowledge have enabled him to choreographed for many of the top Artists in the industry including: Aaliyah,Jay Z, Mary J Blige, P Diddy, Shakira, Busta Ryhmes, J Lo, Mya, TLC, Sugar Hill Gang & Kelly Rowland. Sho-Tyme is also the genius behind Gwen Stefani and her Harajuku girls. He has choreographed all of Gwen’s Tour’s, Stage performances, TV appearances and video clips.

Sho-tyme has worked on TV Shows such as Dancing With The Stars and on movies such as You Got Served, Stomp The Yard & Dance Flick. His recent work includes choreography for ‘So you think you can dance – Canada’ season 1 & 2 as well as Choreographer and Co-Star of the upcoming movie ‘ Beat the world’ due out in cinemas 2010. Sho-Tyme is also touring Europe and Asia early 2010 as a judge for the biggest Hip Hop/ Popping/ locking & House Dance Competition in the world "Juste Debout"
